MICHAEL JANICH’S NEW SELF-DEFENSE DVDS

Michael Janich and Stay Safe Media are proud to announce the release of Practical Unarmed Combatives Volumes 1 and 2 : Critical Skills of Damithurt Silat. The product of more than 30 years of research and analysis of the world’s best fighting arts, Janich’s devastating system of empty-hand self-defense focuses on understanding and exploiting the “physiological potential” of simple, instinctive, gross motor skills. In this way, even novice students can quickly learn a few basic tactics and have the ability, confidence, and understanding to successfully defend against a broad range of common street attacks.

Volumes 1 and 2 of this series present detailed instruction in the critical skills of Janich’s “Damithurt Silat” empty-hand system, including the fundamental striking combination and the secrets of adapting that one sequence of movements to dozens of common street attacks. They also teach you the core reflex-training drills that you can use to perfect your technique and develop the reflexes you need to apply them on the street.

Volume 3 of the Practical Unarmed Combatives series presents Janich’s unique approach to low-line kicking and “mobility kills”—attacks that immediately disable your attacker to create an opportunity for escape. This revolutionary DVD also presents Janich’s expression of pencak silat’s triangular footwork, off-balancing, and throwing tactics. It may not be traditional silat, but it’s logical, sensible, and highly effective. It’s also something that every serious self-defense practitioner needs in his skill set.

FOREVER ARMED: A Combative Guide To The Practical Use Of Improvised Weapons

“Stay Safe Media’s “Forever Armed” instructional DVD (featuring well regarded author, knife designer and instructor Michael Janich) is a great addition to any DVD library.

Defense with an ice scraperNot because of the improvised weapons themselves (sorry, there’s no secret tactical ice scraper techniques) but because Mike teaches the viewer how to see the weapon attributes in everyday items, consider their structural integrity with regard to impact and, importantly – how to incorporate improvised weapons into your training routine. His training drills alone are reason enough to buy the DVD. Stay Safe’s production values are excellent as is the organization of the material. Mike’s presentation is straightforward and the video angles and use of slow motion playback support his instruction well.”

MICHAEL JANICH FEATURED IN THE SEPTEMBER 2009 ISSUE OF BLACK BELT MAGAZINE

Black Belt Magazine September 2009 cover

In the magazine's two-part cover story entitled Bleeding Edge, Michael Janich explains his Martial Blade Concepts system of edged-weapon self-defense. The article, which details the history and evolution of Janich's system, explains that MBC is not about "knife dueling" but about "learning to fight effectively with a knife" so you can apply your skills to the broadest possible set of defensive situations. It also emphasizes that, unlike many classical knife systems, MBC focuses on fighting with the knife that you actually have when you're attacked and the importance of decisively stopping your attacker through proper targeting. These concepts are demonstrated with detailed technique pictorials featuring Mike and his long-time student and training partner Matt Zavakos.

Part 2 of Bleeding Edge will appear in the October 2009 issue of Black Belt Magazine and will focus on Janich's acclaimed Counter-Blade Concepts system.
